Girls@Wests

Western Suburbs are one of the largest Girls Only Sunday League (GOSL) clubs in Wellington. We have multiple teams entered right across the GOSL space from U9 to U15’s.

As the name would suggest, games are played on a Sunday morning throughout the Wellington region. The season runs for the same length as Mixed grades which are played on Saturdays. As of 2026, the grades have changed to the following for GOSL as Capital Football introduces the “Whole of Football 2.0” programme from NZ Football.

We offer the following grades and teams:

U9 – 5 v 5 game format

U11 – 7 v7 game format

U13 – 9 v 9 game format

Note that our U7 girl footballers are now part of the “First Kicks” programme in the WoF 2.0 initiative.

U15 Girls

The club also offers Youth football for girls, with a team competing in the Capital Development League (CDL) which is highly competitive football. We also offer teams in the regional divisions.

In this grade there will be trials involved whereby we have more than a usual squad size wanting to play in the CDL league. There are certain requirements which must be met for entering a team to this grade and minimum training commitments required.

Register – If your daughter would like to play then please refer to our Registrations page for details or please just email the administrator with your enquiry (and specify your daughter’s date of birth).

We will do our best to place your daughter in a team however please be aware this will be dependent on registration numbers and optimal squad sizes. Girls will be grouped into teams in appropriate age grades when we have all registrations in and see what numbers we have. We will make decisions about how teams are formed to best align with the Capital Football grading requirements.

And of course, we always need volunteer coaches and managers!  Please make yourself known when you register your child if this is something you are able to do for a team. Without you we can’t make this happen.

Tournaments

Tournaments are a great way to experience another format of football. It often allows players to play with different teammates and to have a different coach.

The club aims to enter a number of different Girls Only tournaments throughout the season. Where possible we will aim to enter more than one team. Tournaments are generally classified as Competitive and/or Social by the club, we will inform you of tournament opportunities during the season through your Grade Convenor.
