Titan's Taupo Triumph

THE Titan’s football team rounded off a successful season by winning their grade at the John McCartney invitational tournament this month.
The 11th grade Western Suburbs team beat Ellerslie 6-0 in the final.

Coach Dean Eagar said the players were thrilled with the win against a highly regarded side.
“The team wanted to beat the flash team from Auckland,” he said
“We got stuck into it and beat them pretty convincingly.”
Eagar said the Titans played eight games and scored 37 goals, conceding only two.
The John McCartney competition was held in Taupo on October 13 and 14.
Nine teams from throughout New Zealand competed in grade 11.
Eagar, and assistant coach Tony Sule, thought winning finished off a great year for the team, who won 39 of their 40 games this season.
The Titans won their grade in Wellington and the Douglas Villa tournament in Masterton.
They were successful because the children and parents were dedicated to the sport, Eagar said.
The Titans will put on their boots for a friendly match against the Shane Rufer Football Academy on December 1.
Eagar said the match will be played on the new Ascot Park astroturf if it was finished in time.
