10th Grade World Cup

On the 26th August the Western Suburbs 10th grade had their in house 2012 World Cup. All kids were put into evenly split teams and designated with a country name.

Each team was managed by a mum and the competition was fierce. All teams played a world cup game and then moved on to play the same team in a world cup penalty shoot-out.

The day began with  a march past of each team carrying their country flag as their national anthem played in the background. Teams then played off in two pools in both the games and penalty shootouts.

In the end Team Fiji managed by Ma Ali couldn’t quite stay with Team USA who were ably managed by Jeanette Wyness. The 3-0 victory was a fair reflection on the world cup final.

For the world cup final penalty shoot-out Team Mexico led by Lorraine Taylor came up against Team Tonga. In an extremely tight final Linda Kedzlies Team Tonga got there in the end winning 1-0! Prize giving was in the clubrooms as darkness descended and the kids all enjoyed the footballers feast to round off the day.

This was a great way for the 10th grade to end another football season.
