History

Western Suburbs Football Club has a long history being one of New Zealand’s oldest and most successful clubs.

Having been established in 1906 as Hospital AFC, Western Suburbs celebrated its centennial in 2006 by winning the Chatham Cup for the third time; one of only 12 clubs to have achieved this feat.

The other Chatham Cup victories came in 1935 and 1971 which along with the most recent 2006 win gives Western Suburbs the longest span of Cup success of any club in New Zealand.
